Illustrations of the monstrous, mysterious, and menacing.

A kids triathlon for children 4-14 to help raise money for the Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals.
A group of illustrations I created with Knock Inc. for Caribou Coffees 100% REAL campaign. You can see process of generating a stylized body of illustrations, this approach to illustration was more rooted in design ideology then in a traditional sense of illustrating. I worked with Knock Inc to find the best look and feel to fit the ad campaign. At the bottom of the gallery you'll see some of the implementations.
Also Check out my "field notes"! Sometimes you find yourself without pen and paper. I took the dirt notes while I was hiking in the woods. Resourceful... Right?
A downtown Minneapolis craft brewery and taproom focusing on lagers and other session-style beers in a steampunk setting. I collaborated with Clockwerks on creating illustrations, info graphics, and branding ideas.
This project was to take Leap Frog's headquarters lobby and update it. The ideation process began with refreshing the out dated character sculptures with new play-featured sculpts. The second layer of the concept process was to update some of the tech displays in the room. This was completed by the addition of a children's mini amphitheater and a oversized game pad, this helped showcase the tech that the company specializes in. The final tier of the refresh was to update the interior and furniture of the lobby. This part of the execution was done by adding custom lighting features, custom playful seating section, and a large impactful logo.
This project was to create a modular universal kiosk that could be themed for multiple Disney brands. i.e. Marvel, Cars, Toy Story, Disney Princess, Winnie the Pooh, Baby Disney, and Imagination Park. The Kiosk had to invoke a welcoming environment unlike most static kiosks and it also had to be cutting edge. Tech included on the kiosk was rear screen projection, gobo projection, augmented reality screens, video game consoles, QR code readers, and social media/online integration.
The goal of these carriers was to create a solid nesting pet carrier design, that could be sold on shelf and at a lower price point. These hard carriers must conform to airline standards, yet they also need to be taken apart and nested together for shipping and cost effectiveness.
MagiQuest is a interactive live-acion, role playing game where players go on quests in a enchanted world using magic wands to solve puzzles and games. This project was to update the existing concepts to reflect a more naturalistic theme. MagiQuests theming held little consistency, so I came up a more consistent and immersive look for the environments and games. The first and most cost effective re-design was the outdate low quality wall covering. The first few images are what current MagiQuest looks like, then In the next few images you can see the actual printable repeat wall covering and redesigned Dragon Cave.
Here's a storyboarding and illustration project I worked on. You can scroll through the gallery and see some of the thumbs for the boards and a few color comps. On this project I was also able to lend a hand on developing the look and feel of the background and animatable assets.
Some random storyboard drawings.
Here's a illo I did for Target's 2015 Pride video. I'm super happy that I was able to help with this project. At the bottom of the page you can see how my illustration is incorperated into the video.
This is Nickelodeon's Flying Dutchman Rope Climb at the Mall of America. I worked on this with a team of talented folks. This project had a bit of a old school approach that also utilized newer working formats. It ended up being super fun to work on. There was a lot of multi disciplinary elements that went into making each aspect. Some of the project concerns and possibilities were wayfinding signage, visually impact-fulness, and the incorporation of structure and theme.
Here is my birdbrain at work! We decided to get some chicken and these lil ladies needed a home. Here you can see my design process with full material breakouts and construction process. All designed my self and built mainly with my own hands, with the exception of a few birds of a feather who lent me their wings. Just as an FYI I won't really build you a coop, this is just to showcase my work. ;)
